This Sunday the Town of Brighton Recreation Department is hosting a special event, Cabin Fever, alongside the Brighton Farmers’ Market. There will be vendors offering a variety of products, and Brighton Your Wardrobe will hold a sale on gently-used clothing. Kids can play in the small gym. Details can be found here.

At the Market, Fisher Hill Farm will have parsnips, carrots, potatoes, onions, sweet potatoes, rutabaga, celeriac, cabbage, garlic, beets, leeks,  frozen turkeys, and frozen corn, peas, and strawberries; Phil and Sandi are offering a January special on frozen chicken — buy three, get one free. Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic sweet carrots, garlic powder, onion powder, sweet potatoes, daikon radishes, garlic, green and purple cabbage, butternut squash, turnips, beets, and sauerkraut made from the farm’s own cabbage.

Bolton Farms is bringing spring mix, bibb lettuce, lettuce bouquets, escarole, bok choi, micro greens, arugula, and kale. Growing Family Farms will have mixed greens, pea shoots, dried shiitakes, butternut squash, free range eggs, ferments and granola from Small World. Lagoner Farms returns with apples, jams, and applesauces. Clearview Farm is offering certified organic dry cannellini (white kidney beans), buckwheat (to grind and make flour), eschallions and eschallion scallions, celeriac, winter squash (butternut and Long Island cheese pumpkins), dried herbs (oregano, dill, marjoram, and Genovese and lemon basil), sunchokes (Jerusalem artichokes), golden and purple-top turnips, Munchnerbier radishes and a few free-range,  organically-nourished eggs.

Shannon Brook  Farm is introducing naturally scented soap made with organic pork lard; purchase two dozen certified organic chicken eggs and receive a thick, creamy bar of sustainably-made soap. Flour City Pasta returns with lots of orzo and short pastas that are great in soups. JonJohn’s Bakery will have barbecue chicken with garlic mashed potatoes, corn, and fresh bread, lemon dream cake, carrot cake, chocolate chip cookies with pecans, peanut butter balls, oatmeal cranberry cookies, and bourbon balls. Tripleberry Farm is bringing fresh pesticide-free jams and goat milk soaps including lavender, lemongrass, and raspberry vanilla.

Allens Hill Farm is bringing fodder-fed chicken eggs, caramel apple popcorn, dukkah, seven varieties of apple cider molasses granola, and all-natural baking mixes. Nordic Farms returns with fresh jams and jellies, pickles, relish, granola, and paleo/gluten-free baked goods. Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm is bringing lots of maple products including granulated maple sugar, gourmet maple cream spread, and maple mustard — delicious with pretzels or wings for the Super Bowl. Brian’s Kitchen will have an assortment of cookies.

Market Details

The Brighton Winter Farmers’ Market is held Sunday afternoons, 1 to 4 pm, at Brighton’s Brookside Center, 220 Idlewood Road.  There is a second entrance to the building just off of S. Winton Road, between Westfall and 590.  The Market is sponsored by the Town of Brighton.
