If you’re feeling glum about summer’s waning days, visit Brighton Farmers’ Market this Sunday, where the season’s most intense, vibrant colors and flavors will banish your melancholy. There will be plenty of choices for a tasty Labor Day picnic, or for back-to-school lunches.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce will have certified organic arugula, green beans, slicing and pickling cucumbers, carrots (also available in 20 lb. bags for juicing), red and golden beets, kale, garlic, radishes, turnips, and green and purple cabbage. Dearhaven Farm bringing sweet onions, potatoes, garlic, pineapple ground cherries, beets, zukes, sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, shallots, herbs, fresh lemongrass, and vine ripened heirloom tomatoes.

Noto Fruit Farm will be bringing blueberries, peaches, plums, Zestar apples, Ginger Gold Apples, and Sansa apples. Shady Lane Farm will have Beer Friend edamame, cantaloupe, colored peppers, tomatoes small and large, slicing cukes, gator chard, red and gold potatoes, leeks, herbs including chives and parsley, and fresh-cut bouquets. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring certified organic, pasture-raised bacon ends, delicious in soup.

Growing Family Farms is bringing tomatoes, cucumbers, kale, Swiss chard, and Singer Farms’ tart cherry, grape and apple juice concentrates. Congratulations to Blue Moon Bend Farm for winning silver medals at the NYS Fair for its Frost Moon Cheese (feta) and Old Moon Cheese (tomme); be sure to stop by their booth for the prize-winning cheeses. Ann’s Purple Produce will have blackberries, elderberries, eggplant, escarole, Bright Lights Swiss chard, baby summer squash, beets, French Breakfast radishes, red chesnok garlic, cut basil and herbs, large and small bouquets, lots of dahlias, strawflower bunches, potted herbs, shade perennials, and sunflower heads for the birds or for seed eating.

Fisher Hill Farm is bringing lots of cantaloupe and melons, sweet corn, zucchini, summer squash, cucumbers, beans, lettuce, radishes, broccoli, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, potatoes, sweet onions, carrots, garlic, beets, leeks, eggs, chicken, and Red Jacket juices. Lakestone Family Farm will have rainbow Swiss chard, napa cabbage, leeks, basil, single quart and four quart baskets of pickling cucumbers, slicing cucumbers, seedless cucumbers, Armenian cucumbers, baby beets, edamame, tricolor string beans, Fava beans, four varieties of eggplant, summer squash, multicolored eggs, fresh whole chickens, and fresh cut chicken parts, all certified organic.

Organic Matters will have watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, summer squash, cherry, slicing and canning tomatoes, beans, parsley, basil and garlic. Seaway Trail Honey will be bringing local, raw medium amber summer honey, just harvested this week. Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have fresh cut plain and seasoned pasture raised chickens, some small frozen pasture raised whole chickens and heritage chickens, a nice pasture raised pork assortment and 100% grass fed beef cuts, all certified organic and soy-free.

K&S Bischoping will have Canadian Harmony peaches, Sun Glo nectarines, blueberries, blackberries and apples — Paula Red, Zestar, and Wealthy (heirloom). Chicory Blue Gardens will have pretty bouquets with oriental lilies, sunflowers, draping amaranth, red Amaranth, and lisianthus in shades of purple, pink, and white. R&M Bischoping is bringing tomatillos (including canning quantities), heirloom and red cherry tomatoes, hot peppers (jalapeno, Serrano, Hungarian wax, poblano, Anaheim), heirloom slicing tomatoes, green beans, baby zucchini, kale (red Russian and lacinato), fresh cut basil, sunflowers and colorful mixed bouquets.

Honeyhill Farm will have certified organic heirloom slicing and cherry tomatoes, red and golden beets, carrots, mixed baskets of lettuce, sweet fresh onions, shallots, a rainbow of sweet peppers, cured garlic, and fresh, pasture raised chicken. Lavender Moon will an array of herbal products and the ever popular all natural Bug OFF mosquito spray, and a free hydrangea blossom with any purchase. Nordic Farm‘s jam of the week is blueberry white chocolate, with jam bars to match.

Wohlschlegel’s Naples Maple Farm suggests replacing your current sweetener with mother nature’s sweetest gift — pure maple sugar in granulated, sprinkle, and pebble form. Eat Me Ice Cream is offering espresso and banana ice cream on a cornmeal or sugar cookie, and nectarine and watermelon ice candy. Allens Hill Farm will be bringing cut-to-order aquaponically grown basil, seven varieties of apple cider molasses granola, Dukkah, and all natural baking mixes.

JonJohn’s Bakery will be featuring sweet potato tarts, zucchini bread, grandma’s breakfast cake with toasted pecans, peanut butter balls and lemon pound cake. Small World Food will have country multigrain bread, macaroons, kimchi, apple cider vinegar, and granola. Biscotti for Everybotti is introducing vegan oatmeal raisin biscotti, made with organic oats and raisins, no butter and no eggs; gluten-free options include chocolate, cinnamon raisin, and coconut. Newbury Park Pastries will have chicken, veggie, Philly cheese steak, lobster mac & cheese pot pies; quiche; and seasonal tarts. Flour City Pasta will have lots of pasta for your Labor Day picnic and suggests their recipe for Tomato Pesto Radiatore.

Gregg Hermann and Friends return to the music tent. Ty Korfmacher will offer information about the Buckland Creek Restoration project, highlighting the importance of water quality/stormwater runoff, and will have ideas on what we can all do to help.

ColorBrightonGreen.org will collect recycling items; check here for items they are currently able to accept and recycle. The group is also looking for more volunteers to help with these collections; please consider helping this good cause. Please consider donating to the Brighton Food Cupboard, to support their efforts on behalf of the needy in our community.

SNAP Bonus Program
