“Produce — We use no ‘control substances’ – biologic or chemical – organic or conventional. This is true for insect, weed and disease control. Insect and disease controls are limited to crop rotation and/or timing. Weed controls are limited to physical barriers (mulches) or mechanical means (cultivation/hand weeding). Nutrient inputs are limited to aged, non-bovine manures (horse and poultry only) and aged plant materials (leaves, wood chips and crop residues). Started seedlings (produced in pots rather than direct seeded in the field) may or may not receive fish emulsion and/or kelp extract fertilizer. Purchased materials are OMRI listed. Seed stock is certified organic when available. We never use treated seed.
