Out Like a Lamb?

This Week at the Market – March 29

March leaves us this coming week, and we’re thinking maybe “out like a lamb” means white and fluffy. The snow will be gone soon, though, and we know that spring is working its way our way; Shannon Brook Farm welcomed 50 new lambs over the last few wintery weeks. This week Shannon Brook is offering picnic hams, leg of lamb, and lamb shoulder roasts for Easter and Passover. The pork is organically-fed and pasture-raised on the farm’s certified organic fields, and lambs are 100% grass-fed, producing mild, tender cuts.

Fellenz Family Farm’s table will look spring-like with freshly-harvested kale and spinach, plus Keuka Gold and French fingerling potatoes, rutabaga, eggs, honey, and Wild Thistle herbal products. Bolton Farms will have spring mix, lettuce bouquets, Boston butterhead bibb, arugula, watercress, spinach, kale, parsley, cilantro, Swiss chard, and butternut and grey kabocha squash.

Fisher Hill Farm
is bringing cabbage, carrots, potatoes, onions, beets, rutabaga, celeriac, micro greens, eggs, frozen chicken, frozen peas and corn, and Red Jacket juices to market. Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have 100% grass-fed beef and organic no-soy pasture-raised pork, plus eggs from organic no-soy free-ranging hens.

Lakestone Family Farm is bringing eggs, chicken, chicken feet, and spinach from Bean Hill farm. Growing Family Farms will have kale, mustard greens, pea shoots, wheatgrass, baby carrots, dried shiitakes, free range eggs, ferments and granola from Small World, and Singer Naturals tart cherry juice concentrate.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce is bringing certified organic carrots, frozen butternut squash and tomatoes, garlic, garlic powder, sauerkraut, green and purple cabbage, and beets. Clearview Farm will have certified organic purple-top and golden turnips (quantity discounts), eggs, garlic, dry cannellini, black and red Merlot beans, and dried herbs.

Seaway Trail Honey returns to the market with honeycomb, honey butter, raw local honey, and seasonal honey mini-bears, with colorful caps. Allens Hill Farm is bringing meat rabbits, dukkah, caramel apple popcorn, Ithaca yogurt, Lively Run goat cheese, apple cider molasses granola (seven flavors), and all natural baking mixes.

Newbury Park Pastries will have beef stew, chicken, shepherds, veggie, and panang pot pies, plus triple berry tarts. Nordic Farm is bringing fresh jams, including strawberry jam made with organic strawberries, peach, and brandied peach jam,  plus paleo baked goods, four kinds of granola, pickles, and spiced pecans. Pasta Classics returns with a wide variety of ravioli, including apple, Gorgonzola, and walnut; three cheese; and sausage and roasted garlic.
