Super Bowl Sunday at the Market

A Huge Thank You to our Vendors

Brighton Farmers’ Market has the best, most generous vendors anywhere. In 2015, our vendors (and many customers) donated 3,524 pounds of food to the Brighton Food Cupboard! Everyone deserves the best fresh, local, sustainably-grown food. Thank you to our wonderful farmers and producers!

This Week at the Market — February 7, 2016

Super Bowl Sunday is all about the food, right? Obviously that means a trip to Brighton Farmers’ Market before the game to stock up on delicious local snacks. Our new vendor, Farmhouse Table, offers prepared foods made with lots of local products, including winter quinoa salad made with butternut squash from Bolton Farms, apple pie made with organic apples from Fellenz Family Farms, and other treats such as Farmhouse chili, roasted pumpkin soup, roasted turkey and barley soup, Asian slaw, German potato salad, lemon garlic hummus, olive tapenade, house-made crackers, spiced nuts, vinegar tart, chocolate brownies with nutella buttercream, chow chow, and hot honey onion relish.

Pasta Classics suggests baked stuffed breads for your Super Bowl party, with flavors including pepperoni & sausage and chicken wing; Nancy will also have lots of handmade ravioli and fresh egg pasta. Lakestone Family Farm will have chicken wings, drumsticks, feet, and eggs, plus garlic.

Growing Family Farm says “Eat greens instead of wings” and is bringing salad mix, spinach, scallions, dried shiitakes, butternut squash, garlic, free range eggs, Singer Farm Naturals tart cherry and Concord grape juice, and Small World ferments. Nordic Farm is featuring an assortment of hot pepper jams for Super Bowl snacking, plus paleo/gluten free cookies, three kinds of granola, and an assortment of freshly-made jams and marmalades.

Andy’s Specialty Garlic & Produce is bringing tender sweet winter spinach, lettuce, carrots, red potatoes, onions, arugula, kale, daikon radishes, napa cabbage, frozen sweet peppers and tomatoes, sauerkraut, and kimchi. Shannon Brook Farm is featuring lean, grass-fed lamb sausages–hot Italian, mild Italian, breakfast, and ground; Shannon suggests steaming them instead of frying for tender, flavorful meat.

Clearview Farm is bringing certified organic leeks, celeriac, sunchokes, black Spanish radishes, purple-top and golden turnips, Callan Farms dry black beans, Italy Hill popcorn, the last of the pie pumpkins, carnival and acorn squash, dried herbs (thyme, dill, Italian oregano, Thai basil, Genovese basil, and lemon basil), organically-fed stewing hens, and certified organic eggs. Happy Hooves Organic Farm will have fresh whole chickens; frozen whole chickens; chicken livers, hearts, gizzards, and feet; and turkey feet–all from the farm’s certified organic free-ranging poultry flock fed no soy; Della is also bringing organic grass-fed beef in ground beef, stew beef, and chuck roasts, and the farm’s raw honey.

Bolton Farms will have lettuce bouquets, bibb lettuce, spring mix, arugula, mustard greens, Asian greens, micro greens, Tuscan kale, curly kale, grey kabocha squash, butternut squash, and cilantro. Newbury Park Pastries is bringing chicken, veggie, panang, and shepherds pot pies. Tripleberry Farm is bringing freshly-made peach jam and other jams and goat milk soaps. Lavender Moon will have a variety of herb products including some special Valentine treats. Brian Kitchen is offering cookies and fudge.
